Founder Emma Betson
- When did you start practicing Pilates and why?
I started Pilates over two decades ago as a young ballet dancer. It was introduced as a way to improve my strength, flexibility, and overall technique to support my ballet training. Pilates quickly became essential for enhancing my core stability, alignment, and control, which directly translated into better performance and reduced risk of injury in dance. Beyond the physical benefits, I was drawn to the mindful movement and how it brought a sense of balance to both my body and mind. What began as a complement to my dance training quickly grew into a lifelong passion and a cornerstone of my well-being.
- How long have you been running a Pilates studio for?
I’ve been running Inspired Pilates Collective for three years now. It’s been an incredible journey watching it grow into a space that nurtures both movement and community.
- Why did you choose to open your own Pilates studio?
I wanted to create a welcoming space where people could experience the life-changing benefits of Pilates. My vision was to build a community where everyone, regardless of their fitness level, could feel supported and inspired in their journey toward better health.
- What have you enjoyed the most about running a studio?
What I’ve enjoyed most is building meaningful connections with clients and seeing their transformations firsthand. Whether it’s someone recovering from an injury, building strength, or finding a moment of peace in their busy day—it’s incredibly rewarding to know I’ve played a part in their progress.
- What have you found most challenging?
The most challenging part has been balancing the demands of running a business while staying connected to what I love most—teaching and helping people—while also juggling family life with my partner, two daughters, and our fur babies. It’s a constant learning curve to manage all these roles, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding. This journey has taught me the importance of time management, setting boundaries, and cherishing the little moments, all of which have helped me grow both personally and professionally.
- How long have you been affiliated with NPT?
I’ve been affiliated with National Pilates Training (NPT) for one year now. It’s been an amazing partnership that aligns perfectly with my mission and values.
- How has this relationship helped you grow your business?
Working with NPT has helped me stay at the forefront of Pilates education and innovation. Their comprehensive training programs and resources have supported both my personal growth and the development of my studio. It’s also been a great way to connect with like-minded professionals and build a strong network.
- What have you noticed about the graduates from NPT?
NPT graduates stand out for their strong foundational knowledge and their ability to teach with confidence and clarity. They’re well-prepared to adapt their teaching to suit a variety of clients, which is invaluable in creating inclusive and effective Pilates sessions.
