Course Delivery
Students undertaking this course will get access to all learning materials for the three units of competency that comprise the Certificate in Pilates Reformer.
In addition to self-directed online learning, students are required to attend nominated:
- contact days
- practicums and
- assessment days
Students are required to undertake 70 work experience hours, comprising:
- 60 teaching hours
- 10 observation hours.

What will you learn?
This course will teach you how to instruct the basic reformer and matwork exercises by exploring:
- Progressions and regressions
- Transitions that will create flow for an effective and continuous workout
- How to create fun and challenging class plans
- How to vary the load and resistance to make exercises more or less challenging
- Gender specific workouts
- Goals of exercises
- Analysis of movement patterns
- Application of functional anatomy
Work experience
The work experience component is an essential phase of your training. Being able to put all of your knowledge into practice before you leave the course ensure that you are confident and ready to take on work as an instructor in a professional studio environment.
After successful completion of all course contact sessions, work experience may be performed in one of three ways:
- in a professional studio situation, assisting qualified instructors,
- in a situation where students act as instructors with willing non-student clients who understand that they are being trained by students, rather than qualified instructors;
- or in a student-training-student situation.
Note that you are still under the supervision of a qualified and experienced practitioner in all of these three scenarios.
Students need to complete 70 work experience hours, comprising:
- 60 teaching hours
- 10 observation hours.

Graduates of the Certificate in Pilates Reformer Instruction course will be provided with Statement of Attainments. These acknowledges completion of three accredited units of competency, which can be counted towards the full Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction (10537NAT). This is not a formal qualification outcome but a grouping of units drawn from the Diploma.
