Work experience

The work experience component is an essential phase of your training. Being able to put all of your knowledge into practice before you leave the course ensure that you are confident and ready to take on work as an instructor in a professional studio environment.

After successful completion of all course contact sessions, work experience may be performed in one of three ways:

  • in a professional studio situation, assisting qualified instructors,
  • in a situation where students act as instructors with willing non-student clients who understand that they are being trained by students, rather than qualified instructors;
  • or in a student-training-student situation.

Note that you are still under the supervision of a qualified and experienced practitioner in all of these three scenarios.

Students need to complete 70 work experience hours, comprising:

  • 60 teaching hours
  • 10 observation hours.
