The Group Fit Professional Pilates Instruction Pathway is designed for the personal trainer, fitness professional, health professional, pilates enthusiast who wants to learn the pilates fundamentals, pilates matwork and pilates reformer basics.
In this entry level Group Fit Professional Pilates Instruction Pathway you will build the skills and knowledge to understand the pilates method concepts and principles applied to the fundamentals, Intro-basic matwork repertoire, Intro- basic reformer repertoire with use of small props. You will be able to plan and program effective pilates sessions suitably challenging all fitness levels, ages, creatively building functional core strength for pilates sessions in groups, one to one to suit gym/fitness/community and or clinical settings.
As a student upon completion of the Group Fit Professional Pilates Instruction Pathway you will have acquired immediately transferable pilates skills and knowledge.
This is an evidence based curriculum acknowledging current research, sports medicine advances and up to date clinical practise.

This student will be 100% online, self directed, self paced for the x 3 units of competency.
This student has chosen this method of delivery as someone who is autonomous, and likes to work independently, setting appropriate time aside to be able to follow the NPT study guide recommendations. This is a self directed journey with the opportunity to “add on” supported partial/whole “in person” scheduled sessions for an additional cost.
This student will gain the required knowledge in our NPT eLearn, the practicable skills on site in a suitable professional work place where access to mats, reformer and small props are available.
The NPT ELearn is comprehensive, highly interactive including repertoire videos, repertoire workbooks, downloadable tools and resources, journals, quizzes.
This student will be supported finding an appropriate work placement site.
In-Person
This student will be self directed for the knowledge acquisition in the NPT eLearn for the 3 units of competency and supported for the practicable skills with “in person” scheduled sessions in the form of repertoire practice sessions, tutorials and teaching clinics (loggable work placement hours) alongside peers coached and mentored by our knowledgeable and highly experienced NPT faculty. This student choosing this method of delivery enjoys social contact, interacting with peers, receiving feedback, support and coaching from our NPT faculty.
The Group Fit Professional pilates Instruction pathway is a cluster of 3 units of competency drawn from the full Diploma of professional Pilates Instruction ( 10838NAT) offering x 3 statements of attainment qualifying a graduate from this course to be employed in a fitness/gym/allied health setting. All graduates from the industry approved and government accredited Group Fit Professional Pilates Instruction pathway will be suitably trained in pilates matwork, pilates reformer including small props at an Intro – basic level with entry level skills and knowledge able to teach one on one/group sessions to healthy participants with no injuries or conditions.
The Group Fit Professional Pilates Instruction is an evidence based curriculum, government accredited and industry endorsed. all graduates will be workplace ready with a guarantee of immediately applicable and relevant pilates practised skills and knowledge.

What will you learn?
The Group Fit Professional Pilates Instruction pathway course will prepare you to operate in a professional and specialised studio environment with low-risk client groups. The course is divided into 3 units covering all aspects of the Pilates Method, including:
Basic anatomy and physiology principles and practical application to movement, through NPT’s pre-requisite gateway course introduction to Anatomy (or completion of HLTAAP001 Recognise Healthy Body Systems qualification or an equivalent)
History, concepts and principles of the Pilates Method
Exercise planning and programming
Client management, assessment and instructing techniques
Programming templates for one to one and group sessions
Use of pilates small props
Methods of communication in dealing with clients and colleagues
Adult learning and instructional techniques for one-on-one and groups
Work ethics and professional development
Pilates repertoire for pilates matwork classes/sessions
Pilates repertoire for pilates reformer classes/sessions
Movement analysis of pilates repertoire
Cueing techniques for effective correction in pilates sessions

Course Delivery
The Group Fit Professional Pilates Instruction pathway course is delivered either online-only or face-to-face.
In person
Students undertaking the in person delivery of this course will get access to all learning materials for the 3 units of competency that comprise the Group Fit Professional Pilates Instruction Pathway.
Students undertaking the in person delivery of this course will have access to all learning materials and resources for all. 3 number of units of competency within our Learning management system (LMS) and our NPT eLearn.
Students completing in person studies must also undertake 38 hours of either simulated or real work experience, comprising:
8 hours observation
30 hours teacher training
100% online – Self directed
Students undertaking the 100% online – Self directed of this course will get access to all learning materials for the 3 units of competency that comprise the Group Fit Professional Pilates Instruction Pathway.
Students undertaking the 100% online – Self directed delivery of this course will have access to all learning materials and resources for all. 3 number of units of competency within our Learning management system (LMS) and our NPT eLearn.
Students can choose to attend to Pilates fundamentals, tutorials and teaching clinics (work placement hours) at an additional cost.
Students completing 100% online – Self directed studies must also undertake 38 hours of either simulated or real work experience, comprising:
8 hours observation
30 hours teacher training
Work placement
The work placement component is an essential phase of your training. Being able to put all of your knowledge into practice before you leave the course ensure that you are confident and ready to take on work as an instructor in a professional environment.
The work placement hours for this course are part of the delivery schedule and completed through “on-the-job” assisting hours and real time hours at a nominated work placement site.
Note that you are still under the supervision of a qualified and experienced practitioner during your work placement.
38 hours of work experience is compulsory for successful completion.
